72 Boilermakers Named Winter Academic All-Big Ten

<br /><br />Purdue Athletics has 72 Boilermakers from the winter sports season named to the Academic All-Big Ten team, recognizing student-athletes with a 3.0-plus cumulative grade point average.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics has 72 Boilermakers from the winter sports season named to the Academic All-Big Ten team, recognizing student-athletes with a 3.0-plus cumulative grade point average.
 
The total is Purdue's winter academic record and most since 71 selections in 2019. The total is two more than the 2024 winter season. The Boilermakers are now up to 142 total student-athletes on the fall and winter all-academic teams combined.
 
The stellar group of student-athletes were led by swimming & diving's Masy Folcik and Jenna Sonnenberg, who are four-time honorees. Their teammate Kathryn Ackerman is also a four-year honoree, earning her first three honors at Michigan before coming to Purdue as a graduate transfer. The Boilermakers totaled 18 student-athletes who were selected for at least the third time. Thirty-nine Boilermakers were honored for at least the second time, while 33 Boilermakers made their debut on the list.
 
Women's swimming & diving was highly represented with 26 honorees, followed by men's swimming and diving's 19 that was one higher than its 2024 total. The swimming programs combined for 62.5-percent of Purdue's winter honorees.
 
Wrestling (15) had the biggest jump in number of student-athletes represented with four more than 2024. Women's basketball (four) had one more selection than last season and men's basketball added eight selections.
 
First Team All-Big Ten honoree Trey Kaufman-Renn, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention Fletcher Loyer, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, represented the men's basketball program.
 
Matt Ramos, who earned the No. 2 seed at 125 pounds in the NCAA Wrestling Championships, was on the Academic All-Big Ten list for a third consecutive season. He was joined by Joey Blaze, Greyson Clark, Brody Baumann and Hayden Filipovich as both NCAA Championships qualifiers and Academic All-Big Ten.
 
NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships qualifiers Sophie McAfee, Jenna Sonnenberg and Daryn Wright represented the women's swimming program and NCAA Championships qualifiers Max Miller and Jordan Rzepka represented the men's program.

The Big Ten Conference had 1,153 total student-athletes recognized on the Academic All-Big Ten list. The total includes 282 from women's swimming & diving, 196 from wrestling, 163 from men's swimming & diving, 158 from women's gymnastics, 106 from men's ice hockey, 102 from women's basketball, 81 from men's basketball and 65 from men's gymnastics.
