2017 Season
Academic All-Big Ten... Played in eight games, making four starts over the first four weekends of the season... started the final two games of the Little Rock series in left field and the first two games of the CSUN series at designated hitter... suffered a broken ankle in the March 13 series finale at CSUN that sidelined him until the May series at Minnesota... reached base safely three times, drove in a run and scored a run in the opener at CSUN... recorded a single, sac bunt and outfield assist in the middle game of the Little Rock series... hit by a pitch and scored a run as a pinch hitter in the series finale of the Texas State series. 2016 Season
Academic All-Big Ten... Kalina played in 20 games, making six starts... made two starts at designated hitter in March and four at second base in May... delivered an RBI single in his first collegiate at-bat in the win at East Tennessee State... played in eight Big Ten games, including two of the three games against Nebraska, Penn State and Ohio State... singled, walked, stole a base and scored a run in the home midweek game vs. IPFW, a contest in which he also had seven defensive assists... scored a run as a pinch runner against Nebraska and Cal State Northridge... had a single and a stolen base in the finale of the Northwestern series... walked and scored a run as the starting second baseman in the midweek game at Valparaiso. Participated in the Black and Gold Series in the fall but redshirted during his first year as a Boilermaker.

High School
Kalina was three-year letter-winner for coach Carter Freeman at Edina High School in the suburban Twin Cities area... three-time honorable mention All-Lake Conference performer batted over .300 all three years... team captain as a senior and rookie of the year as a sophomore... batted .330 as a junior... helped lead EHS to conference titles in 2012 and 2013 and he was also part of an American Legion state title team in the summer of 2012... AP scholar as a senior... chosen for the Minnesota All-State orchestra as a junior.
