Comadena played for Schreiber from 2005-08 and was a teammate of current Purdue pitching coach Tristan McIntyre. Comadena started 111 of the 140 games in which he saw action as a Boilermaker and went on to play three seasons in the Houston Astros farm system.
A 2008 Purdue graduate, Comadena has served as a private hitting and catching instructor at Lafayette's On Deck Baseball Academy. There he worked with a number of local all-area standouts. He initially returned to Greater Lafayette after serving as an assistant coach at Parkland College (Champaign, Illinois) during the 2012-13 school year.
After his playing career came to a close, Comadena served as the hitting coach of the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League in the summer of the 2012. He was also responsible for working with the catchers along with providing daily defensive instruction to all positions players. As a Boilermaker, Comadena played for Madison over three consecutive summers from 2005-07. The versatile utility man saw action at seven different positions (all but shortstop and pitcher) as a Mallard and was honored with his No. 14 being retired by the summer league team in 2008 after he had established a number of career records.
Comadena's finest season as a Boilermaker was as a senior in 2008 when he helped lead Purdue to runner-up finishes in the Big Ten's regular-season standings as well as the conference tournament. He started 53 of the 58 games that spring as the team's primary left fielder and cleanup hitter, sharing the team lead with 16 doubles to go along with 25 RBI, 39 runs scored and a .379 on-base percentage. A year earlier, he had gotten off to a great start as the primarily leadoff man, compiling a .442 batting average through the end of the spring break trip. But about 25 games into his strong campaign (.340/.455/.620) he suffered a broken left hamate bone and the injury sidelined him for more than a month.
Comadena batted .298 with a .391 on-base percentage, 34 extra-base hits, 45 RBI and 69 runs scored during his upperclassman seasons at Purdue, seeing action at catcher and designated hitter as well as in the outfield. The Boilermakers qualified for the six-team Big Ten Tournament in three of his four seasons overall, finishing second in the standings in 2005 and 2008.
Comadena was primarily a catcher in Minor League Baseball, advancing as high as the Double-A level. He batted .295 with an .821 OPS for High-A Lancaster of the California League in 2011.
