Academic All-Big Ten... Evak played in 37 games and started the final 24 games of the season... also started the series finale of the season-opening series at Tennessee and both games of the doubleheader in Birmingham... started games in all three outfield positions, including 17 in right field... enjoyed highlight-reel night in the series-opening win against Ohio State, connecting for a true inside-the-park homer to center field and making a diving catch in right field moments later... joined the starting lineup in time for the finale of the Penn State series, stealing second, third and home on one trip around the bases that day... batted .230 and was 9-of-9 on stolen bases after moving into the starting lineup... finished the season a perfect 11-of-11 on steals, good for the third most by a Purdue freshman in program history... became the first Boiler since Stephen Talbott in 2011 to steal at least 10 bases and not get thrown out... led the team with two triples as one of only two Boilers to record a triple in 2014... tripled against Butler and Minnesota... had three hits and scored twice in the midweek win at Illinois State... scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning of the walk-off win against Butler... recorded two outfield assists to help Purdue lead the Big Ten through the end of the regular season... finished the season having reached base safely in seven consecutive games... reached base safely 48 percent of the time when leading off an inning... recorded four of his six RBI with two outs... registered eight of his 11 stolen bases at home... batted .381 (8-for-21) with four stolen bases and six runs scored in midweek play. Evak was a four-year letter-winner for coach Robin Renner at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill.... also played football and basketball... high school teammate of fellow Boilermaker Jack Amaro... batted .465 as a junior to earn All-Upstate Eight Conference honors... also an all-city, all-area, all-Chicagoland and all-upper Illinois honoree as a junior... batted .365 as a senior to again earn all-conference and all-area honors... garnered all-conference acclaim in football as a junior after also starting for varsity as a sophomore... helped lead NVHS to a conference title in baseball and was also part of a very good Illinois Sparks club team that went 30-2.
