Academic All-Big Ten... Bieker played in 39 games and started 27 times... one of three players on the team to start games at four different positions: right field (13), catcher (8), designated hitter (5) and left field (1)... started the final six games of the year and also made 12 starts in Big Ten play... Indiana (April 30-May 1): started the opener and finale in right field of the series sweep... at Michigan State (May 6-8): delivered a key two-out single in the ninth inning with the tying run on second but Kevin Plawecki was called out at the plate to end the game... Ball State (May 11): recorded two hits and an RBI while seeing action at catcher and right field... Iowa (May 19-21): started twice at DH and the regular-season finale at catcher, finishing the series 4-for-11 with two RBIs and two runs scored... at Big Ten Tournament (May 25-27): started twice at DH and the Minnesota game in right field, finishing the week 2-for-9 with a hit by pitch and two sac bunts.
2010 Season
Bieker played in 32 games and started 15 times, primarily at catcher and in right field ... his .385 average was tops among the spot starters ... Penn State (April 16-18): saw action off the bench in the series opener and finale, delivering a pinch hit single and playing the final eight innings of the series finale after entering the game as a pinch runner ... at Chicago State (April 20): went a season-best 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and scoring a run ...
