Director of Basketball Operations Terry Kix is in her 16th year with the Boilermakers. She brought 15 years of field hockey head coaching experience and three years as the senior women’s administrator at the University of Maine to the Boilermaker program.
Kix’s primary duties include coordinating team travel, assisting with academic progress, community outreach and marketing as well as coordinating summer camps.
For two seasons she served as the supervisory administrator for the Purdue women’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs.
In addition to the wealth of time she gives to the team, Kix serves with numerous community service groups in the Greater Lafayette area. She sits on the board of directors for the Community Cancer Network and has implemented two major fundraisers for the organization with all proceeds benefiting local cancer patients. Kix’s additional community works include the Lafayette Hunger Hike, Habitat for Humanities, Carry the Torch and Feast of the Hunter’s Moon.
As the head coach at Maine, Kix was named America East Coach of the Year four times, Northeast Region Coach of the Year and compiled a 174-109-5 record. Her field hockey team achieved the highest team grade-point average five times while she was at the helm.
The Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., native was an outstanding student-athlete, honored as a two-time field hockey All-American at Connecticut. She won a national championship as a player in 1981 and again as an assistant coach in 1985 for the Huskies. Kix was selected as the 1985 Connecticut Female Athlete of the Year, and in 1984 was a finalist for college field hockey’s top honor, the Broderick Award.
