SPORTS NUTRITION

The mission of the Purdue sports nutrition program is simple: to provide high-performance nutrition strategies that keep Boilermaker student-athletes in the game. The certified sports nutritionists on staff work with all 18 teams at Purdue to ensure the best possible outcomes both on the field of competition and in life beyond athletics.

The program, overseen by director of sports nutrition Lauren Link, supports Purdue Athletics with a comprehensive program that optimizes performance. By working directly with Boilermaker student-athletes and their coaching staffs, the sports nutrition department focuses on three areas:

  • Be fueled for training today (pre-exercise)
  • Be fueled for training tomorrow (recovery)
  • Be well for training everyday (prevent injury and illness)

Located in the Don and Carol Shelbourne Sports Medicine Center, the sports nutrition area includes an office for individual consultation. The area also includes an exam room equipped with a DEXA Scan machine to measure student-athlete's bone density and body composition.

But facilities extend beyond the Shelbourne Center to include fueling stations in strength & conditioning areas and the All-American Dining Room, where teams partake in training table meals.

With great facilities and a wonderful staff, the Purdue sports nutrition program is a vital part of the daily support system for more than 500 Boilermaker student-athletes.
