WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Twenty-two Purdue student-athletes from winter sports have been selected as Academic All-Big Ten. That gives the Boilermakers 44 so far this school year after 22 from fall sports made the honor squad.
Ten's women's swimmers made the list, along with four each from men's swimming and wrestling, three from women's basketball and one from men's basketball.
Those who qualified with career grade point averages of 3.0 or higher were:
From women's swimming, Katherine Barker (St. John, Ind., Lake Central H.S.), Kristen Batzer (LaPorte, Ind., H.S.), Katie Hasbrook (Indianapolis, Ind., Cathedral H.S.), Michele Labrie (Rye, N.H., Portsmouth H.S.), Kate Leinberger (Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa, Rusteburg H.S.), Tracy Storrier (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Collegiate H.S.), Angie Troester (Granger, Ind., St. Joseph's H.S.), Marisa Watts (San Jose, Calif., Presentation H.S.), Erika Whyte (Salinas, Calif., Notre Dame H.S.) and Christine Wittenschlaeger (Barrington, Ill., H.S.).
From men's swimming, Larry Becker (Corte Madera, Calif., Redwood H.S.), Vilmos Kovacs (Tatabanya, Hungary, H.S.), Ryan Morrissey (Marion, Iowa, Linn-Mar H.S.) and Mike Ullom (Whitestown, Ind., Lebanon H.S.).
From wrestling, Eric Kerkhof (Muncie, Ind., Delta H.S.), Jon Sata (Livonia, Mich., Stevenson H.S.), Marc Tompkins (LaPorte, Ind., H.S.) and Willie Wineberg (Fairfield, Ohio, H.S.).
From women's basketball, Danielle Bird (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Dwenger H.S.), Amy Shaffer (Hillsdale, Mich., H.S.) and Stephanie White (West Lebanon, Ind., Seeger Memorial H.S.).
