Three Athletics Staff Members Promoted Appointments for Cross, Blalock, Cooperider take effect July 1

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Three senior staff members in the Purdue Division of Intercollegiate Athletics have received promotions that will take effect on July 1.

Roger Blalock and Nancy Cross have been promoted from associate to senior associate athletics director, while Assistant Athletics Director Jay Cooperider has been promoted to associate athletics director.

"Roger, Nancy and Jay are big contributors to the ongoing improvements Intercollegiate Athletics is making," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Morgan Burke. "They work long hours and love their work. It is my pleasure to reward their hard work."

Blalock served as associate athletics director for the past five years after spending five years as assistant athletics director. He oversees 10 sports, including women's basketball and volleyball.

Cross has served as associate athletics director for the past five years. The 25-year veteran of Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics oversees all of the marketing activities, promotions, and development planning and implementation, which includes the 9,000-member John Purdue Club. She also serves as the senior woman administrator and oversees the men's and women's golf programs.

Cooperider has spent the past two years as assistant athletics director after being named director of communications for Intercollegiate Athletics in 2000. In addition to overseeing the department's communications, media relations, sports information, spirit and video operations, Cooperider also is department spokesman.
