WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Three Division of Intercollegiate Athletics staff members have been promoted to assistant athletics director.
Morgan Burke, director of intercollegiate athletics, said the promotions recognize the importance of the functional area each manages and the capable leadership each has demonstrated. The promotions take effect Jan. 1.
The three staff members are Greg Christopher, director of the John Purdue Club and director of development, Barbara Kapp, associate business manager for information technology and ticketing systems, and Steve Simmerman, director of facilities operations.
"We work in a complex, changing business environment in Intercollegiate Athletics, and Greg, Barb and Steve have taken on new duties as they have maintained their ongoing work," Burke said. "They are valued staff and very deserving of this recognition."
Burke cited the renovation of Ross-Ade Stadium and the implementation of a new facility master plan, increasing reliance on technology for ticketing and information systems, and the imperative to raise funds to support scholarships and facilities as areas that the three manage with excellence.
Christopher was named director of the John Purdue Club in July of 1999 after two years as assistant director. He also has sport management responsibilities for men's and women's tennis.
Kapp oversees information technology and the Athletic Ticket Office on ticket systems and policy. She also is responsible for implementation of a computing master plan for intercollegiate athletics.
Simmerman oversees event management, as well as new construction, remodeling and maintenance of all athletics department buildings and grounds, as well as facility scheduling and use.
