Thirty-four Boilermaker Student Athletes Garner Academic Recognition Big Ten announces Spring Academic All-Conference list

Park Ridge, Ill. - Thirty-four Purdue student-athletes received recognition for their academic achievements as the Big Ten released the Spring Sports Academic All-Conference list today.

The women's track and field team saw eight athletes garner accolades, the most of any Purdue sport. The women's tennis team had seven players make the list, while softball added six to the tally. The men's tennis team put five players on the list, while men's track and field saw three athletes honored. Baseball and men's golf had two honorees apiece, while women's golf put one team member on the academic list.

The Big Ten honored 875 spring sport athletes, an increase of 78 over last year's total. The list featured 62 baseball players, 75 softball players, 110 women's rowing athletes, 51 women's and 34 men's golfers, 54 women's and 45 men's tennis players, 157 women's and 92 men's track and field athletes and 111 women's and 84 men's at-large athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Forty-one Boilermaker athletes were recognized by the Big Ten in the fall for their academic efforts, while 32 athletes picked up All-Academic acclaim when the winter sports list was announced.
