WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Football and men's basketball games, as well as the Joe Tiller and Gene Keady radio call-in shows, will be broadcast on The Rocket, WSHP-FM 95.3, beginning this fall as part of a radio rights agreement.
Women's basketball games, as well as the Kristy Curry Show, will be broadcast on The Wolf, WLFF-FM 95.7.
"WSHP is the perfect venue for Purdue sports in terms of coverage and audience," said Arthur Angotti, general manager of Artistic Media Partners Lafayette operations. "We are also excited about providing improved coverage for women's sports on WLFF."
All three radio call-in shows will originate from Scotty's Brew House in Wabash Landing.
The five-year radio agreement also includes Purdue baseball, soccer, softball and volleyball games to be broadcast on WLAS-AM 1410. On Friday, the final Olympic sport broadcast of the year was carried on WLAS-AM as the Boilermakers participated in the Big Ten baseball tournament.
As part of the deal, WHLY-AM in South Bend has been added to the Boilermaker Sports Network. The South Bend station is one of 14 owned by Artistic Media Partners throughout Indiana.
"Artistic Media has been an invaluable part of expanding the reach of Purdue sports, especially Olympic sports coverage on WLAS-AM," said Jay Cooperider, assistant athletics director for communications. "We look forward to building our audience and reaching Boilermaker fans in new ways."
Since 2002-03, soccer, softball and baseball play-by-play coverage has joined volleyball on WLAS.
WAZY-FM 96.5 had previously been the flagship station for the Boilermakers Sports Radio Network for the past 13 seasons. Artistic Media Partners owns WAZY, WSHP and WLFF.
"WAZY has been pleased to carry Purdue football and basketball in the Lafayette area for 13 years," Angotti said. "During that time, our coverage has more than doubled, and we have been looking for ways to improve and expand our broadcast support for Purdue."
The agreement with Artistic Media Partners is the latest development stemming from a five-year marketing and media rights agreement between Intercollegiate Athletics and Purdue Sports Properties, a joint venture of Learfield Sports and Strategic Marketing Affiliates.
The Boilermakers open up against Syracuse on Sept. 5. Tickets are available by calling (800) 497-7678 - 49-SPORT - or (765) 494-3194 or online at www.purduesports.com.
