Matt Patterson is currently in his 12th season working for the Purdue Boilermakers. Patterson is in his 18th season overall working in college football video, including six seasons working as lead video coordinator and one as director of video – football.
Patterson oversees all aspects of coaching video for the Boilermakers, including filming and editing games as well as practices using the state-of-the-art Catapult Thunder System. This technology allows players and coaches to view any video at a click of a button from any computer, tablet or smartphone. He also handles all technology in the Kozuch Football Performance Complex at Purdue.
In 2021, Matt was awarded the honor of Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA).
Patterson earned four football letters as a quarterback/punter at Adrian College from 2001-04. He also earned all-conference honors two of the four years at Adrian and graduated in 2005 with a degree in business management. Following his playing career, he worked for two seasons at Adrian College as a student coach.
In 2007, Patterson accepted the video coordinator spot at Eastern Michigan where he was in charge of all functions within the football video department until 2012. In 2013, Patterson accepted Purdue’s video coordinator job and later added the title of lead video coordinator in 2018 before becoming the director of video – football in 2023.
Patterson is a native of Westland, Michigan. He resides in West Lafayette with his wife Brittany, son Tanner, and daughter Ella.
