WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Matt Patterson, the lead video coordinator for Purdue Football, has been named the 2021-22 Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA).
After being selected by his peers as the Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year, Patterson is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award. The Bob Matey Award is presented to the video coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, the legendary video coordinator from Texas A&M. The Matey Award will be announced at the annual CSVA Banquet, May 4, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Patterson is currently in his ninth season working for the Boilermakers. He has 15 years of experience working in college football video, including five seasons working as lead video coordinator.
Patterson oversees all aspects of coaching video for the Boilermakers, including filming and editing games as well as practices using the state-of-the-art Catapult Thunder System. This technology allows players and coaches to view any video at a click of a button from any computer, tablet or smart phone. He also handles all technology in the Kozuch Football Performance Complex.
In 2007, Patterson accepted the video coordinator position at Eastern Michigan, leading all functions of the football video department until 2012. In 2013, he made the move to Purdue and became the Boilermakers' lead video coordinator in 2018.
As a quarterback and punter, Patterson earned four letters at Adrian College from 2001-04. He was a two-time all-conference honoree and graduated with a degree in Business Management. Following his playing career, he remained Adrian for two more seasons as a student coach.
Patterson is a native of Westland, Michigan. He resides in West Lafayette with his wife
Brittany, son Tanner, and daughter Ella.
