• Set numerous career highs after making the move to 165 ... wrestled at 174 the three previous seasons.

• Wrestled in the postseason for the first time in his career after having last season come to an end in February due to injury, placing eighth at Big Ten Championships and automatically qualifying for NCAA Championships at 174 pounds.
• Went 0-2, facing a pair of top-10 seeds at NCAAs.
• Earned NCAA berth in dramatic fashion, coming back to beat No. 9 Micah Barnes of Nebraska, 6-4, in sudden victory in the second round of wrestlebacks at the Big Ten Championships ... also beat Chris Pfarr for a second time this season in his first match at Big Tens with a 6-2 decision.
• Set career highs this season in technical falls (4), bonus point wins (9), shutouts (5), four-point nearfalls (19), back points (82) and total points scored (178) ... 55 percent of his career wins have been with bonus points (4 MD, 7 TF, 13 F) ... had 28 more back points than previous season high of 54 in 2014-15.
• Tied with Ben Thornton for most dual points scored (35) ... had team high nine reversals ... ranked second on the team in first period points (98), four-point nearfalls (19) and back points (82) ... ranked third in bonus point wins (9).
• Concluded the conference season at 7-1, which is the best Big Ten dual record since Ivan Lopouchanski went 7-1 in 2012-13 ... trio of wins earned bonus points ... pinned Northwestern’s Braxton Cody in 50 seconds and Pfarr of Minnesota (2:23) ... the quick pin of Cody was the second of his career that has come in less than 60 seconds ... posted 15-0 tech fall vs. Sam Rowell of Maryland in 4:26.
• Nine of his 16 wins resulted in bonus points ... earned back points in 11 of his 29 matches, including five of his eight Big Ten dual bouts.
• Won a team-best seven straight dual matches from Dec. 19 to Jan. 29 ... four earned bonus points with three pins and a tech fall .. went 6-0 in January.
• Suffered an injury at the season-opening Eastern Michigan Open that sidelined him for a month ... returned to action at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and won his first match 9-0 ... 1:11 worth of riding time then lifted him past Navy’s fourth-seeded and 11th-ranked Jadaen Bernstein 3-2 for the highest ranked opponent he’s defeated in his career.
• Made his first dual start at SIU Edwardsville on Dec. 19 since sustaining a season-ending injury at Indiana on Feb. 7, 2016, by pinning Jake Residori in 4:21.
• Exploded for seven points in the second period and nearly pinned 19th-ranked Devin Skatzka of Indiana on his way to a 10-4 upset.
• Earned first ranking from Amateur Wrestling News the week of Feb. 27, checking in at No. 20.
