Alex Merrill is in his second season as the Director of Administration and Performance for Golf at Purdue. He oversees the operations and strength conditioning for both the men's and women's golf programs.

Merrill came to Purdue after 12 years at Duke University, where he served as the performance coach for men's and women's golf, wrestling and women's tennis. During his time at Duke, the men's golf team made five National Championship appearances, while the women's team won the 2014 and 2019 NCAA Championships. 

Before joining Duke, Merrill was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Attain Sports Performance, a private training facility in Western Massachusetts where he worked with athletes ranging from the elementary to professional level.

Merrill holds a bachelor’s degree from Keene State College in Physical Education. Merrill attended Springfield College from 2008-2010 for his graduate studies in Applied Exercise Science. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), NG360 (Nike Golf) Performance Specialist, Certified FRC Mobility Specialist (FRCms) as well as Functional Movement Systems Certified (FMSC).
