• Finished third overall in the 100 back at the Indiana Intercollegiates
• Helped his 200 medley relay team win its heat at the Purdue Invitational, swimming the leadoff backstroke leg

2016-17 / AS A SOPHOMORE
• Raced in six different individual events but competed primarily in the 200 backstroke

• Competed in both backstroke events as well as the 500 free (4:56.88) at Virginia Tech's H2Okie Fall Invitational
• Challenged himself at the Big Ten Triple Duals by competing in three tough events -- the 200 back, 200 fly (1:58.22) and 500 free

2015-16 / AS A FRESHMAN
• Competed primarily in the backstroke events
• Posted season-best times in the 100 (51.18) and 200 back (1:50.66) at the Purdue First Chance meet
• Also raced in the 200 fly (1:55.75), 200 IM (1:59.56) and 500 free (4:47.84) during the season
• Raced in the 200 back at the Purdue Invitational
• Dropped more than four seconds off his 200 back time from the dual meet win vs. Miami (Ohio) in the October and the Purdue First Chance meet in February
HIGH SCHOOL
• Four-year varsity letterwinner for coach Lauren Nosal at Green Hope High School in Cary, North Carolina
• Three-year North Carolina state qualifier helped Green Hope win state titles as a sophomore and junior along with finishing as the runner-up his senior year
• State qualifier in the 100 back, 200 IM and 200 medley relay as a senior as well as the 500 free as a junior
• Finished seventh in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 medley relay
• New Hope also won four straight conference and regional titles
• Won the 800 free in the North Carolina Senior State LC Championships

• His great grandfather Joe Waling played baseball at Purdue and his grandfather Stephen Waling is also an alumnus
