· Born in Orenburg, Russia, a community located in the southwest part of the country not far from the Kazakhstan border and due north of the Caspian Sea
· Parents are Rinat Amaltdiov and Julia Amaltdinova
· Family also includes younger siblings Dina and Amina
· Breaststroke standout attended the Moscow School of Olympic Reserve N3 where he was a medalist for his study habits
