· Also posted personal season-best times in the 100 free (45.49) and 100 fly (50.27) at Big Tens
· Finished tied for sixth in the B final of the 50 free at Big Tens to account for 2.5 team points
· Also swam the anchor leg on the 200 free relay at Big Tens that accounted for the fifth-fastest time in program history
· 200 medley finished 22nd in the prelims at NCAAs
· Won the 50 free and anchored both the 200 free and 200 medley relay teams to victory in the dual meet win at Miami (Ohio)

2013-14:

· Johnston competed primarily in the freestyle sprints
· Season-best times in the 50 (20.00, 3rd) and 100 free (45.27, 5th) from the Big Ten Championships both ranked among the top five on the team in 2013-14
· Moved into ninth place in program history in the 50 free
· Part of the 200 free relay team at the Big Ten Championships that posted the fourth-fastest time at Purdue and qualified for the NCAA Championships
· Qualified for the B final of the 50 free at Big Tens to account for one team point
· Contributed to five relay winners throughout the season, highlighted by 200 free relay victories against No. 1-ranked Michigan, Notre Dame and the Big Ten Triple Duals
· Also had strong times in the 50 (20.50) and 100 free (45.68) at the Minnesota Grand Prix
· Won heat 1 of the 50 free at the Big Ten Triple Duals

2012-13:
· Johnston competed primarily in the freestyle sprints
· Posted his season-best time in the 50 free (20.56), which ranked fifth on the team in 2012-13, while winning the event at the Michigan First Chance meet
· Was also Purdue's top performer in the 100 free and 100 fly at the Michigan First Chance, finishing as the runner-up in the 100 fly with a time of 51.94
· Also competed in the 50 and 100 free and 100 fly at the Purdue Invitational
· Strong showings in the 50 (20.82) and 100 (46.30) in the dual meet against Indiana foreshadowed his season-ending success at Michigan.

Before Purdue:
· Three-time team MVP for coaches Ryan Harrington and Nick Castillo at Highland High School
· Indiana state champion the in the 50 free as a senior
· Also a sectional champion in the 50 and 100 free and 200 and 400 free relays
· Most Distinguished Athlete award winner as a senior at HHS
