Chuck Destro Season 2012-13

2012-13:

• Honorable Mention All-America (200 Free Relay)
• NCAA Championships Qualifier (Relays)
• Destro competed primarily in the freestyle sprints and 100 fly
• Competed on all three Purdue relay teams at the NCAA Championships, helping the Boilers place third in the consolation final (11th overall) of the 200 free relay to garner Honorable Mention All-America acclaim
• Season-best time in the 100 fly (47.54) from the Big Ten Championships was tops on the team in 2012-13 and fourth fastest in program history
• Season-best times in the 50 (16.69, 2nd) and 100 free (44.26, 3rd) and 100 back (49.96, 3rd) also ranked among the top five on the team in 2012-13
• Finished his career ranked third in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 free among the Purdue all-time Top 10

2011-12:

• Destro competed in five different events, racing most frequently in the 50 and 100 free and 100 back
• Regular contributor to relays swam the leadoff backstroke leg on the 200 medley relay team at the Big Ten Championships
• Won the C final of the 50 free at Big Tens with a season-best time (20.12)
• Competed in the 50 free the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, winning heat five and placing 48th of 167
• His season-best times in the 50 free (4th) and 100 back (49.76, 4th), both from the Big Ten Championships, each ranked among the top five on the team in 2011-12
• His season-best time in the 100 free (45.12), from the prelims of Big Tens, was sixth fastest
• Swam the opening leg on Purdue's fastest 200 medley relay teams of the season
• Accounted for eight team points at the Ohio State Invitational after qualifying for the B final of the 50 free and 100 back
• Won the 100 free and swam on both relay winners in the dual meet win versus Miami
• Also swam on relay winners at the Indiana Intercollegiates, Notre Dame dual, and Michigan State dual
• Named a team captain for the 2012-13 season

2010-11:

• Destro competed in primarily freestyle sprints and the 100 back while also being a key contributor to relays
• Posted a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 50 free (20.22) at the Big Ten Championships, a mark that ranked fifth for Purdue in 2010-11
• Was a part of Purdue's top performing relays in the 200 (1:18.99) and 400 free (2:55.34) and 200 medley (1:28.28), all posting NCAA provisional qualifying times
• The 200 and 400 free relay teams posted the second-fastest times in program history and the 200 medley team ranked third
• Was part of Purdue's top five relay performances of the year in both the 200 free and 200 medley
• Swam the anchor leg on the 200 medley relay on the opening night of the Big Ten Championships
• Finished third in the C final of the 50 free at the Big Ten Championships
• Also posted a season-best time in the 100 free (45.38) at Big Tens
• Finished second in the 100 back at the Purdue Invitational with a season-best time (49.70) that ranked third on the team in 2010-11
• Also finished second in the 50 free at the Purdue Invite
• Swam the leadoff backstroke leg for the victorious 200 medley relay team at the Big Ten Quad
• Also finished second in both the 50 and 100 back at the Big Ten Quad

• Was among the eight swimmers selected to travel to Dallas for the SMU Classic in January

2009-10:

• Led off 14th-place 400-meter medley relay at ConocoPhillips U.S. National Championships (8/7)
• Also led off 16th-place 400 freestyle relay (8/3)
• Opened season with consecutive victories in 100 backstroke, first at Indiana Intercollegiates (10/10) and again vs. Miami (10/30)
• Also anchored 200 medley relay to victory and finished second in 50 freestyle at Indiana Intercollegiates
• Led off 200 medley relay that recorded team-best time of 1:29.03 at Big Ten Championships (2/27)
• Time moved quartet into fifth on program's all-time performance list in event
• Also added points with 14th-place showing in 50 freestyle after recording season-best time of 20.23 at conference championship meet (2/25)
• Swam leg on three other relays at Big Ten Championships
• Anchored seventh-place 400 freestyle relay (2/27), took second leg on eighth-place 200 freestyle relay (2/26) and led off ninth-place 400 medley relay (2/25)
• Won 50 freestyle vs. Northwestern (11/7) and vs. Michigan State (1/9)
• Led off victorious 200 medley relays at Eastern Michigan (11/13) and at Indiana (2/6) and winning 400 medley relay vs. Northwestern (11/7)
• Also took second in 50 freestyle at Eagles
• Claimed second in 100 backstroke, fourth in 50 freestyle and anchored runner-up 400 freestyle relay at Hoosiers
• Finished second in 50 freestyle and led off runner-up 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays vs. Notre Dame (11/6)
• Led off runner-up 400 medley relay at Big Ten Quad (1/29) and third-place 400 medley relay vs. Michigan State (1/8)
