Jake Amos will enter his first year as an assistant coach in the fall of 2014. With the addition of Amos to the staff, both members of the Purdue men[apos]s golf coaching staff have won national championships either as a coach or player. Bradley was an assistant coach on the Alabama team that won the 2013 NCAA title and Amos was a member of the Augusta State programs that won NCAA Championships in 2010 and 2011. [quote]I met Coach Bradley earlier this year and was instantly impressed with his personality and coaching style. I was very excited when he approached me about the position at Purdue and this is a great opportunity to work at one of the top up-and-coming golf programs in the country,[quote] Amos said. Rob and I both have experiences winning a national championship that we will be able to relay to the student-athletes and hopefully guide them to the ultimate goal of winning an NCAA title.[quote] [quote]I am very excited that Jake has decided to become a part of our program. He has played and coached on National Championship teams at Augusta State, and his experiences will help our players understand what it takes to elevate our program to the next level,[quote] Bradley said. [quote]Jake played elite junior level golf in England and his experiences will help us recruit on an International level. Jake will bring so much to our program and I am looking forward to have him on our staff.[quote] Amos arrives at Purdue from the University of South Florida (USF) where, in his one year in Tampa, he helped the Bulls to an NCAA Regional appearance and a final ranking of No. 33 in the Golfweek national rankings as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. With Amos[apos] help, the Bulls placed in the top three in five of their 10 tournaments played during the 2013-14 season, including a team title at the Ocean Course Invitational in late October. Amos also helped coach the Bulls[apos] first golf All-American since 1989, when Chase Koepka earned PING All-American third-team accolades after a sensational sophomore campaign. Before entering the coaching ranks, Amos spent the last three years playing professionally, including a few stops on the Web.com Tour, as well as being a member of England[apos]s National Team. During the fall of 2010, Amos was a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Augusta State University. The Jaguars would go on to win the 2011 NCAA Championship, the second of consecutive NCAA crowns for the school. Graduating in 2010 from Augusta State, Amos helped the Jaguars to their first national title in the spring of 2010. He earned medalist honors at the 2008 Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate and was ranked as high as 104th nationally as a junior. He posted a career stroke average of 73.58, including 72.71 strokes as a junior. He started his collegiate career at Division II Lander University, where he was named a second-team All-American and was selected to the All-American Freshman team, the All-Region team and won NCAA Regional medalist honors.
