PRIOR TO PURDUE
• A three-time first-team all-district selection, Thompson was a member of the Texas 4A state title team as a freshman.
• Won Golfweek Junior Tour (GJT) championships at the Kampen Course in both 2014 and 2015.
• In 2015, won his GJT title after shooting a 36-hole total of 6-under par 138 (68-70).
• Tallied an even-par 144 (72-72) in winning the GJT at Purdue in 2014.
• Recorded a pair of top-18 finishes in AJGA events this past summer.
• Mother, Jennifer, graduated from Purdue in 1976, and his grandfather, grandmother, two aunts, one uncle, two cousins and mother all attended the school.

"James is a very exciting player to watch. His strength is his ability to hit the ball a long way and he should have no problem with the transition to longer golf courses. He has two wins in junior events on the Kampen course and this proves he can play tough golf courses well. James has a lot of potential and we look forward to helping him maximize it."
