2016-17 / AS A SOPHOMORE
Game-by-Game Statistics
• Swanigan had one of the most dominant seasons in college basketball history, earning first-team consensus All-America and Big Ten Player of the Year accolades. He was a finalist for the Wooden, Naismith and Oscar Robertson Player of the Year Awards and was named the recipient of the Pete Newell Big Man of the Year Award.
• Averaged 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, while shooting 52.7 percent from the field, 44.7 percent from 3-point range and 78.1 percent from the free throw line.
• Became the first player since Wake Forest's Tim Duncan (1996-97) to average 18.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in a season.
• Became the first player nationally in at least the last 31 years (since 1985-86) to have at least 640 points, 430 rebounds and 100 assists in a season.
• Set a Big Ten record with 28 double-doubles, the 13th most by a player in NCAA history.
• Became the eighth player in Big Ten history to lead the league in scoring and rebounding.
• Was named Big Ten Player of the Week six times, the second most in league history (7 by Ohio State's Evan Turner; 2009-10).
• His 436 rebounds were the fourth most by a player in Big Ten history and just one player (Ohio State's Jerry Lucas) had more.
• His 227 rebounds in Big Ten play equaled the most in the 55 years (Jerry Lucas in 1962).
• His 14, 20-10 games were the third most for a player since the 2010-11 season.
• Became the fourth player in Purdue history with 600 points and 300 rebounds in a season.
• With a 20-point, 12-rebound, 7-assist game against Iowa State, Swanigan became the third player to reach those totals in an NCAA Tournament game since the 2011 tournament.
• Had double-double streaks of nine (third-longest at Purdue) and eight (fourth-longest) games during the season.
• Opened the season with 23 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists against McNeese State, becoming the third major-college player in the last 10 years to have a 20-20-5 game (Oklahoma's Blake Griffin, LSU's Ben Simmons).
• Had four 20-20 games in 2016-17. The rest of the Big Ten has two combined in the last 20 years.
• His four 20-20 games are the second most in a season in the last 20 years.
• Had Purdue's first 30-20 game since 1971 with a 32-point, 20-rebound showing against Norfolk State.
• Had 28 points and 22 rebounds against Minnesota on New Year's Day.
• Averaged 24.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in two games against Michigan State.
• Averaged 22.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in two games vs. Northwestern.
• Scored in double-figures in 34-of-35 games (Arizona State) and surpassed 20 points 15 times.

• Swanigan had an outstanding freshman campaign being named to the Big Ten's All-Freshman Team as well as a midseason finalist for the Wayman Tisdale Award (nation's top freshman) and early-season candidate for the Karl Malone Award (nation's top power forward).
• Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week a school-record three times, sharing the league lead with Big Ten Freshman of the Year Ethan Happ of Wisconsin.
• Averaged 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, setting Purdue freshman records for rebounds (282 / previous record was 206) and double-doubles (8). His 348 points were the eighth most by a Purdue freshman in school history.
• Became the second Purdue freshman in school history with 300 points, 200 rebounds and 50 assists (Robbie Hummel).
• Was 1-of-3 freshmen nationally with 340 points, 280 rebounds, 60 assists and 20 made 3-pointers (Memphis' Dedric Lawson, IPFW's John Konchar).
• Became the first Purdue freshman since Russell Cross in 1981 to have at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in a game, when he had 25 and 11 against Butler in the Crossroads Classic.
• Dominated Wisconsin in the regular-season finale with 27 points and eight rebounds while going 6-of-7 from the field and 14-of-17 from the free throw line.
• His 14 rebounds against IUPUI were the second most for a freshman in school history and most for a freshman since 1975.
• Had six double-figure scoring outings in his last eight games.

HIGH SCHOOL
• Perhaps Purdue's most-decorated recruit in school history, Swanigan was ranked No. 9 in the ESPN Top 100 for the Class of 2015. Was also ranked the third nationally at his position and was named Indiana's Mr. Basketball.
• Ranked the 13th-best player by Scout.com and the 19th-best player in America by Rivals.com.
• Became Purdue's first Indiana Mr. Basketball to play for the Boilermakers since Glenn Robinson won the award in 1991.
• Became Purdue's first McDonald's All-American since Mike Robinson in 1996.
• One of 30 players nationally named to the Parade All-American high school boys basketball team.
• Widely regarded the top rebounder in all of high school basketball during this last season.
• Selected by Bleacher Report to have one of the most-productive seasons by a freshman in college basketball in 2015-16.
• Averaged 22.6 PPG and 13.7 RPG at Homestead High School, leading the Fort Wayne school to its first state title in school history in 2015.
• Was named Gatorade Player of the Year after setting school records in career points (1,649), career rebounds (1,048), single-season points (704) and single-season rebounds (424).
• Ranked second in school history in career blocks (106) and assists (204).
• Helped Team USA to the 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Greece, averaging 6.1 PPG and 4.4 RPG while shooting 60.0 percent from the field, helping the American team to a 7-0 record.
• Helped Team USA to the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship, by averaging 8.0 PPG and 5.7 RPG. Swanigan shot 16-23 (.696) from the field and 24-31 (.774) from the free throw line. Also contributed 11 steals, six assists and four blocked shots.
• Suited up for Team USA in the 2015 Junior National Select Team during the 18th Annual Nike Hoop Summit.
• Teamed with Vincent Edwards for tryouts for the 2015 U-19 United States National Team. Roughly 30 players from around the country participated.
• Named the All-USA Today Indiana Player of the Year.
• Scored 40 points with 19 rebounds in the Semi-State win over South Bend Riley to lead Homestead to the State finals.
• Averaged 25.2 PPG, 13.5 RPG and 3.1 APG to help team to Class 4A State Semifinals in 2013 as a sophomore.
• Turned down scholarship offers from Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, Michigan State and California among others.

• Majoring in general education / educational studies.
• Father is Roosevelt Barnes, who played football and basketball at Purdue in the late 70s and early 80s. Was a member of Purdue's Final Four team in 1980.
• Reclassified from 2016 to 2015 and was able to graduate high school in three years.
