• Smotherman had some big moments as a sophomore, appearing in all 34 games with starts against Minnesota (Feb. 7) and in three straight games against Rutgers, Ohio State and Michigan State (Feb. 26 - March 4).
• Smotherman averaged 2.7 PPG, 1.8 RPG and 0.9 APG in 12.9 minutes per game. Also posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 31-to-17 (1.82), the highest mark on the team.
• Tallied a career-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 35 minutes against Rutgers (Feb. 26).
• In a two-game stretch against nationally-ranked Iowa and Indiana in late January, Smotherman went 9-of-10 from the field, scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in just 44 minutes.
• Had a stretch of eight games from Jan. 7 to Feb. 4, where he committed zero turnovers in 95 minutes of action.
• Scored 13 points (5-of-6 shooting) with six rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist in a big win over No. 25-ranked Iowa.
• Then tallied eight points on 4-of-4 shooting with four rebounds and two steals in a win over Indiana.
• Connected on a big three-pointer in the regular-season finale against Illinois to get the Boilermakers' offense untracked in the first half.
• Scored four points with six rebounds and a career-high five assists against Grambling.

• Smotherman had a strong freshman campaign, appearing in all 32 games with 16 starts and averaging 5.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game while shooting 58.0 percent from the field (65-of-112).
• Known for his electrifying dunks, his dunk against Rider was selected to the Sportscenter Top 10 Play of the Day (No. 10).
• His 58.0 percent field goal shooting was the third-best percentage by a freshman in school history.
• Recorded first career double-double with a 12-point, 10-rebound effort against Penn State (Jan. 18).
• Shot 66.7 percent (24-of-36) from the field in non-conference action and 59.3 percent (16-of-27) against nationally-ranked teams (9 games).
• Shot a sizzling 70.7 percent (41-of-58) from the field in the second half of games.
• Averaged 6.7 points in the first 18 games of the season, but just 2.8 points in the final 14 games of the season.
• Scored four points in a minute-span in a big comeback win over Siena in the Old Spice Classic. His first basket gave Purdue its first lead of the day with just over a minute to play and his dunk with 27 seconds sealed the victory.

HIGH SCHOOL
• A four-star recruit, Smotherman ranked as the No. 112 overall prospect by Rivals.com and the fourth-best prospect in the state of Indiana by ESPN.com.
• Averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists en route to being named to the Indiana All-Star Team, leading Lawrence North High School to a 16-6 record, the program's best record in four years.
• Spent his first two seasons at Heritage Christian High School, where he averaged 12.5 points per game as a freshman and 13.8 points per game as a sophomore.
• Coached by his father, Basil Smotherman, Sr., at Heritage Christian and then by Jack Keefer at Lawrence North.
