Qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 2:09.24; used her top mark to qualify for the finals at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships en route to her first conference scoring performance, a seventh-place effort; first hit the regional standard at the Georgia Spec Towns Invitational, clocking a time of 2:09.35; narrowly missed the NCAA Indoor Championship provisional standard with an indoor best of 2:10.89 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational; ran a best 600-meter run mark at the Boilermaker Invitational (1:36.62).

2008 (SOPHOMORE)
Clocked a career-best time of 2:12.92 at the 2008 Iowa State Classic; ran the opening leg of the Boilermakers[apos] distance medley relay squad, which took seventh at the 2008 Big Ten Indoor Championships.

2007 (FRESHMAN)
Registered a season-best time of 2:15.37 in the 800-meter run at the Dave Rankin Invitational; posted indoor-best times of 1:19.91 in the 500-meter run and 2:17.91 in the 800-meter run, both at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL
Four-year varsity letterwinner in track and field and cross country at Northfield High School; qualified for the Indiana State High School Track & Field Championships in the 800-meter run as a senior, taking 15th place; set the Northfield school records in the 800 and 1,600 as a senior; two-time academic all-conference honoree.

Nancy Marie Hammel was born Nov. 3, 1987, in Wabash, Ind.; is the daughter of Cary and Nancy Jo Hammel; has one brother, Kurt; enjoys carpentry, playing the harmonica and outdoor activities; majoring in agricultural and biological engineering.
