WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke has announced some changes in the sports medicine staff, effective immediately.
Dr. Stephen Badylak is shifting his university appointment to biomedical engineering on a full-time basis. He has served in a dual role in athletics and engineering since joining the university 15 years ago. The responsibilities and opportunities have grown in both areas, requiring Badylak now to commit full time to engieering. He will remain active in the athletic department as a consulting team physician. His duties will include assisting with football, both home and on the road, and other events hosted by the department.
Dr. Mike Krauss takes over as senior team physician. He has been with the athletic department as assistant team physician for the last seven years. He graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 1988. Krauss also will remain on staff at the Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH).
Denny Miller has been named director of sports medicine. He has served as head athletic trainer for 23 years after a four-year apprenticeship as assistant athletic trainer. Miller will coordinate all medical services, athletic training, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and other related health care services for the athletic department. He will reduce his time commitment to PUSH.
