West Lafayette, Ind. - Boilermaker fans will have a unique opportunity on Friday, Aug. 3 as the Starter/ Purdue University car will be on display in West Lafayette, on the Purdue campus in front of Mackey Arena on Northwestern Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Driver Elton Sawyer will be there from noon to 2 p.m. From noon to 1 p.m., he will be available to the media and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., he will be signing autographs for the general public. Purdue Pride will have a tent set up selling Purdue and Purdue #98 car merchandise at this event. Also one pair pit passes and two pairs of tickets will be given away during the event.
Also on Aug. 3, the Starter/Purdue Showcar will be at the IUPUI Follett's bookstore in Indianapolis, located at 901 Indiana Ave., from 4 to 6 p.m. One pair of pit passes and one pair of tickets will be given away during this event.
Elton Sawyer will drive the Boilermaker car for Atkins Motor Sports during the Kroger 200 on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. The race is part of NASCAR's Busch Grand National Series and will be broadcast live nationally on TNT.
Sawyer currently ranks sixth in the Busch Series standings. He has 11 top-10 finishes this season, including each of his last six starts. He is racing this weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado before next weeks Kroger 200 in Indianapolis.
