WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Tryouts for Purdue students who want to portray Purdue Pete will be held on two successive Mondays in April.
Pete, the Purdue athletics mascot, appears at dozens of Intercollegiate Athletics contests throughout the year, as well as community events, weddings, birthday parties and other gatherings. The students chosen as Pete also will portray his inflatable sidekick, Rowdy.
Finalists will be asked to perform an original skit the evening of April 19 in Mackey Arena. Finalists will be determined by an interview process to be conducted the evening of April 12.
To be eligible, students must be nimble and able to stay on their feet for extended periods of time. Well-developed pantomime skills are essential, as is the ability to interact with a diverse group of clients while out of costume. Previous experience as an athletics mascot is desired but not required.
Applications are available in Room 15 of Mackey Arena. Completed forms should be returned by April 5.
