Purdue Announces November Athletes-of-the-Month Brees, White-McCarty earn athletic department honors.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Drew Brees (Austin, Texas, Westlake H.S.) and Stephanie White-McCarty (West Lebanon, Ind., Seeger Memorial H.S.) have been named Purdue's Athletes-of-the-Month for their performances throughout November. The award is sponsored by WLFI-TV and Twin City Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth.

Brees, a sophomore on the football team, was named Athlete-of-the-Month for the second time this season. He also won the honor in September. Brees led the bowl-bound football team to an undefeated November record, including a record-tying six-touchdown performance against Northwestern, a come from behind victory against Michigan State and a 52-7 thrashing of intrastate-rival Indiana. He continued his record breaking ways, setting Big Ten marks for attempts, completions and yards passing and was named Big Ten Player-of-the-Week for the week of Nov. 8. It was his third Big Ten honor this season.

White-McCarty, a senior on the women's basketball team, averaged 22.0 points per game and had 24 assists and six steals, while leading the team to a No. 1 ranking and a 3-1 November record. She was instrumental in beating the top-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers in the State Farm Women's Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 15. White-McCarty had 24 points in the game on 8-of-12 shooting, including two three pointers, six rebounds and four assists while playing all 40 minutes. She has led the team in scoring in three of the four games played and was named Big Ten Player-of-the-Week for the week of Nov. 15th.
