WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's athletic department has announced several hirings in the Compliance Office, John Purdue Club and Equipment Room. Ed Howat is a new Compliance Coordinator, replacing Frank Dorazio, who went to Southern California last spring. Sally Ross has joined the John Purdue Club as Assistant Director, replacing Chester Caddas, who retired last spring. Chris Conklin has been hired as a new Assistant Equipment Manager, while Mark Clark, Assistant Equipment Manager, has resigned to take a job in his hometown of Princeton, Ind.
Howat spent the past 10 years at East Tennessee State. The first four years were as assistant men's basketball coach, and his most recent role was as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Services. He graduated from Purdue with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1988, and earned a master's degree in education from ETSU in 1990. Howat was a student manager on the Boilermaker men's basketball team from 1984-88 (head manager his last two years), when the squad won three Big Ten championships and played in five NCAA Tournaments.
Ross has been with Purdue's President's Council the last seven years. Her most recent title was Development Associate. Ross earned a B.S. degree in agriculture from Purdue in 1983 after swimming on the varsity team from 1979-83. She was the swim team's graduate assistant coach in 1983-84. Ross is married to Dan Ross, Purdue's men's swimming coach.
Conklin was the head student manager in the Equipment Room for Purdue's football team in 1996 and 1997, and served as a student manager for six total years. The native of Union City, Ind., graduated from Purdue in December of 1997 with a B.A. degree in physical education. Conklin recently married Stacy Fountain, a former Boiler softball player.
