Dec. 3, 1999

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - An advance party of six Purdue administrators visited Tampa Thursday (Dec.2) and came away impressed with the facilities and bowl arrangements for the January 1 Outback Bowl. Senior Associate Athletic Directors Dick Walbaum and Glenn Tompkins along with Football Administrator Leroy Keyes, Band Director David Leppla, Equipment Manager Mike Shandrick and Athletic Public Relations Director Jim Vruggink visited with bowl officials and toured the barely 2-year-old Raymond James Stadium (where the game will be played), University of South Florida football complex (where the Boilermakers will practice), Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel (where the players will stay) and Hilton Beach Resort in Clearwater (where the band and cheerleaders will stay.

The Purdue delegation was impressed with the facilities and with the cooperation of individuals involved. The Boilermakers will learn who their opponent will be Sunday afternoon. Most speculation centers around Bulldogs, either Mississippi State or Georgia.
