PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Fueled by the program's highest hitting % in a Big Ten match since 2017 (.424%), the No. 11 Purdue volleyball squad took down Rutgers 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-16) inside Jersey Mike's Arena. It was the second sweep in as many nights for the Boilermakers as the team improves to 18-5 (9-3 Big Ten) while the Scarlet Knights fall to 5-18 (0-12 Big Ten).
Purdue was firing on all cylinders at Rutgers, posting just eight team attack errors in the match, including four over the last two sets, 49 digs and eight blocks in the one hour 18 minute victory. No Boiler committed more than two attack errors and all hit over .330%. Meanwhile, three hit above .400%: Chicoine (.565%), Colvin (.412%) and Hudson (.406%).
Chloe Chicoine reached double-digit digs in the second set, finishing the day with her 11th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs on a career-high .565 hitting clip. The Boilermaker led the team in efficiency while tying for the lead in kills and finished second in digs.
The team posted a night's best .538 attack % in Set 2 and followed it up with just one team attack error in Set 3.
Hudson finished the match with 14 kills, including an errorless 8 kills and .500 attack % in Set 1.
Entering the third set with 26 assists, setter Taylor Anderson guided the team with 33 assists in the match. All three setters saw time on the court tonight, with Sydney Yim sealing the Set 2 victory on a dump while Allie Shondell checked into the third set, dishing out five assists to close the match.
Middles Raven Colvin and Lourdes Myers each recorded four blocks and finished with nine and six kills, respectively.
The win was Purdue's fourth sweep in the team's last five matches.
Next week, Purdue will split next week between away and home matches, beginning next Friday with the second match against in-state rival, Indiana, as the squad looks to sweep the series after winning the Monon Spike on October 19 in Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers and Hoosiers will battle in Bloomington at 7 p.m. ET on B1G+.
Then, Purdue returns home for a Sunday matinee vs. Michigan at 1 p.m. ET inside Holloway Gymnasium in Military Appreciation Day. Eight matches remain in the regular-season.
