WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sophie McAfee and Daryn Wright finished on the podium again as championship finalists in 3-meter diving and a pair of underclassmen moved into the program's all-time top five, highlighting Friday at the Big Ten Championships for Purdue women's swimming & diving.
Freshman Kate Mouser (4:14.97, B Cut in 400 IM) and sophomore Ana Rojas (53.93 in 100 back) posted lifetime bests while scoring in their events. Mouser moved into third place in team history as a B finalist, registering Purdue's fastest time in the event since Nika Karlina Petric set the record at the 2016 Big Ten Championships. Rojas broke 54 seconds and moved into fifth place in team history as a C finalist.
All four Boilermakers that competed on 3-meter scored Friday, with McAfee and Wright finishing fourth and sixth for a combined 50 team points. McAfee was top five on both springboard events this week and improved to 8-for-8 in top-10 finishes in her career at Big Tens. As a sophomore, Wright is now 5-for-5 in career top 10s. Purdue scored 69 team points in Friday's diving event.
Mahala Erlandson (1:01.76, T-11th in 100 breast) and Madeline Greaves (4:20.33, 13th in 400 IM) also improved their place on the Boilermakers' all-time leaderboards with their lifetime bests Friday. Erlandson (C finalist) joined Maggie Love (B finalist) and Masy Folcik (C finalist) as Purdue's scorers in the 100 breaststroke. Folcik became a four-year scorer at the Big Ten Championships and plans to return as a fifth-year for the 2024-25 season.
Abby Marcukaitis (B final of 100 back), Kaitlin Simons (3-meter consolation finalist), Kendra Bowen (C final of 200 free) and Jenna Sonnenberg (18th in 3-meter prelim) also scored for Purdue on Friday. Reagan Mattice posted a lifetime best (1:48.97) while placing among the top 30 in the 200 free.
The Boilermakers finished on the podium in the 200 free relay as Love, Kendal Schreder, Rojas and Bowen teamed up for a time of 1:31.61.
The Big Ten Championships conclude Saturday with swimming prelims at 10 a.m. ET, diving prelims at noon and the finals session at 5 p.m.
