MULTI-TEAM DUAL MEET INFORMATION
Purdue Men & Women host the Big Ten Triple Duals/Quad
Boilermakers vs. Minnesota, Northwestern & the Iowa Women
Friday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. ET / Saturday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. ET / Live on B1G+
Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center / West Lafayette, Indiana
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimming & diving's final co-ed meet of the home season will feature Saturday's annual Senior Day ceremony as well as another full deck as Minnesota, Northwestern and the Iowa women all visit campus for the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals/Quad.
Twenty events will be contested over the two days of competition at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center – 11 events beginning Friday at 5 p.m. and nine more events starting Saturday at 11 a.m. The Boilermakers are hosting the meet for the first time since January 2020.
The teams are planning to wear their high-speed tech suits. Two scoring heats will be featured for all individual swimming events. Purdue's legendary Big Bass Drum will be on deck for the Senior Day ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free for both days.
The Big Ten Network's B1G+ website and app will have the live streaming coverage of both days. The production goes live Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for the Senior Day ceremony. Fans that sign up for a monthly subscription this weekend will be covered through the end of men's Big Ten Championships at Ohio State (Feb. 28-March 2). Purdue hosts the women's championships the week before (Feb. 21-24).
The Boilermakers are planning to recognize 28 seniors – 10 women, 11 men, seven managers – Saturday morning as part of one of the largest Senior Day ceremonies at the pool in recent history. Purdue's Class of 2024 enrolled in the fall of 2020 during the heart of the pandemic. Despite the unique circumstances and uncertainty that were ever present during their underclassmen years, there was very little attrition among the class. In fact, all 11 men that joined the program together as freshmen in August 2020 are now going out together as seniors. They also represent the first senior class under first-year head coach Alex Jerden.
Special recognition also goes out to the quartet of fifth-year student-athletes on the women's roster. Swimmers Kendra Bowen and Kate Beavon were recognized with their classmates at Senior Day a year ago. Divers Maycey Vieta and Jaye Patrick (a graduate transfer from Northwestern) are currently in Qatar preparing to compete at the World Championships. Vieta was also recognized at Senior Day last season.

BIG TEN TRIPLE DUALS/QUAD NOTABLES
• The Purdue men set two pool records at Northwestern's Norris Aquatics Center at last season's Big Ten Triple Duals and Quad. Brady Samuels and Idris Muhammad teamed up with Nick Sherman for Keelan Hart for a sweep of the freestyle relays, setting a pool record (2:53.10) in the 400. Samuels' leadoff leg split of 43.01 was a pool record in the 100 freestyle. Individually, Samuels was victorious in the 100 butterfly and 200 free, posting the second-fastest time (1:34.85) in team history (at the time) in the 200.
• Purdue's 200 free relay team as well as Samuels in the 100 fly were both repeat winners at the meet.
• In the diving events a year ago, Sam Bennett and Jenna Sonnenberg were both victorious on 3-meter. Only springboard events were featured due to Northwestern's aquatic center not having a tower. Jordan Rzepka's springboard sweep, which earned him Big Ten Diver of the Week honors, headlined the diving well action at the 2022 Big Ten Triple Duals in Minneapolis.
• On the women's side, Kate Beavon (9:47.32 in 1000 free) and Cecilie Wiuff (1:59.22 in 200 fly) both moved up Purdue's all-time top 10 with their personal-best times in Evanston.
• With the Iowa women joining the meet starting last year, it became a Big Ten Quad again for the first time since 2013. Wisconsin hosted the meet that year and it was the last time it featured Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue and UW on the women's side. That four-team field had been a constant from 1997 to 2013. Northwestern joined the field for the 2014-15 school year, replacing Wisconsin.
• Minnesota hosted the meet in January 2022, but the Purdue women opted to stay home and host Illinois for a Senior Day meet instead of traveling to Twin Cities along with the men. The Gophers would be up next to host in 2025 as part of three-year rotation.
• Along with the 1,000 freestyle in place of the mile, the 400 medley relay is the only events not included this weekend that is featured at the Big Ten or NCAA Championships.
• Northwestern has competed at the last three Purdue Invitationals in November, winning the women's title in 2021 and the men's this in November of this season.
