MADISON, Wis. – The No. 3 seed Purdue volleyball team fell in the Regional Semifinal vs. No. 2 seed Oregon in straight sets (14-25, 19-25, 27-29) after an efficient and senior Oregon offense set the tone. It was Purdue's fourth Regional Semifinal appearance in the last five years.
The Boilermakers' nine-match winning streak came to a close as the team ends the season with a 23-9 (15-5 Big Ten) record while Oregon, a team that finished second in the Pac-12, moves on to face No. 1 seed Wisconsin on Saturday with a 29-5 (16-4 Pac-12) record.
The Boilermakers were led by Eva Hudson's 12 kills and Chloe Chicoine's 10.
Graduate student Maddie Schermerhorn totaled 16 digs to close out her collegiate career. The libero goes down as one of the best to play the position for the Boilermakers, finishing as the season's Big Ten leader, ranking fifth in career digs (1,461) and owning a total of four spots in the single-season records, with 4.56 digs per set in 2023 (fourth) and 4.62 last year (third). Meanwhile, she racked up 570 digs this season, third-most in program history, including the most in 18 years. She was one dig shy of tying #2.
