South Bend, Ind. – The Purdue women's basketball team dropped its road contest at No. 14/12 Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon in South Bend, falling 76-39 at the Joyce Center.
Abbey Ellis led Purdue (6-5) in scoring with eight points. Freshman Mary Ashley Stevenson topped the Boilermakers with six rebounds.
Purdue could not find its shooting touch with a 24.6% clip for the game and 4-of-15 from behind the arc. Defensively, Purdue held Notre Dame (8-1) to its third lowest point total of the year. The Boilermakers forced 17 Irish turnovers but managed six points off the takeaways.
Notre Dame was led by Hannah Hidalgo's game-high 23 points. The Irish shot 50.8% from the field and totaled 44 points in the paint with 26 points on fast breaks.. The Irish converted 21 Purdue giveaways into 26 points.
Notre Dame opened with the first 11 points of the game, before Purdue countered with a seven-point run to pull within four. Ellis tallied four of her points in the opening frame. The Irish used a 10-point in the second and a 16-point swing in the third to pull away.
Purdue continued to fight into the fourth scoring 14 points in the period. The freshman duo of Stevenson and McKenna Layden combined for nine points on 4-of-6 shooting. Purdue made two of its four triples in the final 10 minutes.

Purdue will close out the non-conference slate with a home tilt on Wednesday against Indiana State. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. at Mackey Arena as a part of Education Day. The game will also mark the Voice of Purdue Women's Basketball Tim Newton's 1,000th on air for the Boilermakers.
