WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A full sweep of all 16 events for the women and a trio of two-time event winners for the men helped lead the Purdue swimming & diving teams to a dual meet sweep of UIndy in Friday's home opener at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.

TEAM SCORES
Men: Purdue 184, UIndy 113
Women: Purdue 197.5, UIndy 84.5

Coleman Modglin, Brady Samuels and Ethan Shaw teamed up to account for six of the men's nine wins in the individual events as the Boilermakers were victorious in a dual for the first time under first-year head coach Alex Jerden. Modglin swept the breaststroke events for the second Friday in a row.

Maggie Love also won both of her individual events for the second meet in a row, matching Modglin with a breaststroke sweep.

Sophie McAfee won on 3-meter with a career-best list score of 356.95, moving into 10th place in program history. She and Daryn Wright led the way as Purdue had at least the top four finishers on both springboards. The Purdue women finished 1-2-3 in seven events total, including four freestyle races.

Five freshmen all won events in their Burke Aquatic Center debuts. Caitlin Hurley and Kate Mouser both won events for the second weekend in a row and were involved in the most unusual finish of the night. Mouser carried the lead into the final 100 yards of the 500 freestyle when a snafu with the lap counters led to the official ringing the bell 50 yards too soon. Mouser stopped briefly at the 450-yard mark. Hurley took advantage and ultimately out touched her classmate by a tenth of a second.

Hurley had won the 200 free earlier in the meet. Mouser was victorious in the 200 IM in the final individual event of the night.

Kate Beavon, Brinly Hardy and Wright joined Hurley, Love, Modglin and Mouser as Boilermakers to win individual events for the second Friday in a row.

Both the men's 50 free and women's 200 breast produced co-winners. Racing in lane 1, Idris Muhammad finished tied with UIndy's Joao Silva at 20.35 in the 50 free. Love made up ground over the final 100 yards of the race to finish even UIndy's Celina Schmidt at 2:15.96 in the 200 breast.

The Boilermakers' home-opening weekend continues Saturday at noon with the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate, which is scheduled to feature 10 visiting teams from around the state of Indiana.
