WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the first fifth set match of the year, the No. 16 Purdue Boilermakers fell short against the 2022 Atlantic-10 Champions Loyola Chicago, 2-3 (25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 25-22, 24-16). With the result, Purdue moves to 1-2 on the season while the Ramblers improve to 2-1.
 
Purdue freshmen Taylor Anderson and Grace Heaney shined after entering the match late, propelling the Boilermakers to a fifth set where the team had the 12-7 lead before an experienced Loyola team fought back for the win.

Purdue will travel this week to Lawrence, Kansas for the Kansas Invitational for the squad's lone road trip of the non-conference schedule. First, Purdue will take on Kansas this Thursday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by No. 12 Marquette on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
