PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Maggie Love claimed her seventh individual event victory of season and the Boilermakers capped the session by winning the 200 freestyle relay, highlighting the opening night of action for Purdue women's swimming & diving in a two-day dual meet at Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights hold a 93-74 edge in the team scoring with 10 more events slated for Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
The Boilermakers won the 100 free and 200 individual medley as well as the 200 free relay Friday. Hannah Hill and Love were both part of a pair of victories. Hill won the 100 free with a personal season-best time of 50.63. Love was victorious in the 200 IM for the third straight weekend.
Hill and Love teamed with Kendal Schreder and Kendra Bowen for the victory in the 200 free relay. The quartet capped Friday's action with a team season-best time of 1:32.90. Love's 50 free split of 22.75 on the second leg was the only sub-23 second split of the race.
Abby Harter, Abby Marcukaitis and Kelsey Cooper teamed up for a 2-3-4 finish in the 200 backstroke. Mahala Erlandson and Olivia Callinswood went 2-3 in the 200 breaststroke. Daryn Wright was also a runner-up in 3-meter diving.
Hill won the 100 free for the second Friday in a row.
