COLUMBIA, Mo. – Maggie Love's sweep of her individual events with a pair of times that rank among the all-time fastest in program history highlighted Purdue swimming & diving's season-opening Friday and day 1 action of a two-day dual meet at Missouri.
Purdue's Event Winners on Friday
• Maggie Love – 100 Breast & 200 IM
• Lindsay Turner – 200 Fly (as part of a 1-2-3 finish)
• Jordan Rzepka – 1-Meter Diving
• Kendra Bowen – 100 Free (co-winner)

Love won her events with strong times of 1:00.81 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:00.01 in the 200 individual medley, moving the sophomore into sixth and ninth place in program history, respectively. Freshman Abby Marcukaitis posted a time of 1:59.00 in the 200 backstroke in her first individual event as a Boilermaker, moving into 11th place all-time in team history.
Jordan Rzepka was victorious on 1-meter by 75 points with a strong early-season score of 379.80. Classmate Brady Samuels was the runner-up in the 100 freestyle. Both sophomores represented Purdue at the NCAA Championships last season.
Purdue men's head coach Dan Ross said there was a miscommunication with the Missouri staff about the suits the swimmers would wear. Missouri thought the Boilermakers had agreed to wear the faster racing suits for the two-day meet. Instead, the Purdue men only traveled with practice suits. With the Tigers already suited up for Friday's events, the home team went ahead and competed in the racing suits. Selected Purdue women had racing suits in their travel bags and chose to wear the faster suits as well. All swimmers competing Saturday are expected to wear practice suits.
