WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Boilermaker block shined in Purdue's 3-0 sweep vs. Ball State (25-11, 25-12, 30-28). The victory, combined with the squad's 3-0 takedown of Northern Kentucky on Thursday evening, paved the way for Purdue to defend its five-year-long title as Stacey Clark Classic tournament champions, an honor the team has held since the Classic began.
With the result, the Boilermakers close non-conference play with a 9-1 record, marking the most wins in non-conference play since 2018.
Earning Stacey Clark Classic All-Tournament Team accolades are MVP Eva Hudson, Emma Ellis and Madeline Koch. They are joined by Northern Kentucky's Anna Brinkmann and Reilly Briggs as well as Ball State's Marie Plitt and Lauren Gilliland.
Purdue totaled 14 stuffs in the win, which included Hudson's block solo to secure the victory on match point.
Hudson was one dig shy of a double-double, securing 16 kills and nine digs with two aces and four total blocks (1-3). Setter Megan Renner registered 37 assists while adding seven digs and two kills. Meanwhile, Koch was the most efficient Boilermaker of the day with a .417 hitting clip, backed by nine kills and two errors on 17 swings.
Big Ten play is on deck for Purdue, with the Boilermakers opening conference play vs. No. 6 Minnesota next Friday, September 23 at 8 p.m. ET. The match will air on Big Ten Network.
