FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The No. 25 Purdue men's golf team struggled early in the round and couldn't get anything going on a brutal scoring day at the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort, finishing sixth at the 2022 Big Ten Championships.

The Boilermakers tallied a 54-hole score of 30-over par 894 (287-295-312) to finish just nine shots behind Illinois (+21) in the top spot, but finish sixth overall. Michigan State was second at 22-over par 886, Maryland was third at 23-over par 887, Northwestern was fourth at 26-over par 890 and Wisconsin placed fifth at 27-over par 891.

The teams were met on Sunday with extremely-difficult scoring conditions and the wind blew from 20-30 miles per hour from the south. The results showed the difficult conditions as the day's best score was a 302 from Maryland and Iowa while the scoring average ballooned to 78.13, 2.23 shots worse than round two. In all, there were just two players under par and just eight players shot 74 or better.

Purdue was the only team with four players in the top 25, but couldn't get the low individual round to push the Boilermakers up the leaderboard.

Leading Purdue was junior Andrew Farraye with a ninth-place finish at 5-over par 221 (70-75-76). Farraye recorded his third straight top-20 finish and was his highest placing when on the counting team.

Joe Weiler (72-73-79) and Cole Bradley (73-73-78) finished tied for 17th at 8-over par 224, while Herman Sekne (72-74-79) was 21st at 9-over par 225. Nels Surtani was 51st at 16-over par 232 (78-75-79).

Purdue will learn its NCAA Regional destination on Wednesday, May 4, when the Golf Channel hosts the NCAA selection show at 4 p.m. ET.
