CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Purdue men's tennis team fell on Sunday in their last conference road match of the season to No. 52 Illinois, 4-1.
Athell Bennett and Piotr Galus bested their matchup against No. 60 Lucas Horve and Hunter Heck to give Purdue a single doubles win at No. 1. The Fighting Illini snagged the doubles point with 6-4 and 6-2 wins at No. 2 and 3.
Illinois took a 3-0 lead at No. 1 and 3 singles to raise their score.
Rohan Sachdev answered back and overtook his opponent in the first set of his singles match over Alex Brown, 6-1, with a tougher fight the second set, but prevailed and scored a singles point for the Boilermakers.
Dating back to April 15, 1999 was the Boilermakers first meeting between the Illini in Champaign.
