Evanston, Ill. – The Purdue men's tennis team came up short in their matchup against the No. 28 Northwestern Wildcats.
Northwestern took the doubles point to begin the match with 6-1 and 6-2 wins at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Athell Bennett and Gabriele Brancatelli fought hard to give Purdue a single doubles win at No. 1, as they led their opponent Steven Forman and Felix Nordby, 6-1.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead at No. 3 singles to improve their score. Then echoed the points at No. 4 and 1 which clinched the match for Northwestern.
The first matchup between Northwestern and the Boilermakers took place on April 17, 1999, and started the Boilermaker's record off with a win.
