EVANSTON, Ill. – The Purdue softball team (19-23, 2-8 Big Ten) came up short in Game 2 at No. 6 Northwestern, falling 1-10 in five innings.
Purdue's lone run was notched by freshman Tyrina Jones, her fourth career run and first of Big Ten play. The run came in the top of the fourth, thanks to a single by senior Rachel Becker when Purdue returned to the top of the order.
The Boilermakers committed no errors for the 16th time this season and were out-hit 4-11 on the day, allowing three home runs, a opponent season-high.
Mo Wimpee received the loss, moving to 2-2 on the season in her first Big Ten start.
Purdue will close out the series tomorrow at No. 6 Northwestern with a 1 p.m. ET showdown on Easter Sunday.
