BOCA RATON, Fla. – In the final game of the FAU Parents' Weekend Tournament, Purdue softball (8-13) fell to SIUE (6-9) in a morning matchup at FAU Softball Field.
Purdue came out strong to open the game as the leadoff batters Rachel Becker and Jade Moy each singled to open the offensive effort. The Boilermakers loaded the bases quickly, and thanks to a walk by freshman Olivia McFadden, Becker scored. However, the final out was recorded on a foul ball to left field before Purdue could finish unloading the bases.
The Boilermakers were led by Rachel Becker, who notched her 11th run of the season in addition to a hit. As a team, Purdue totaled three hits and two errors while SIUE connected nine times.
In the circle, Alexa Pinarski (0-6) rounded out the weekend with one strikeout in 1.2 innings while allowing three runs on four hits. Brenna Smith came in relief, facing 24 batters over the final 5.1 innings and tossing a pair of strikeouts.
With two weeks remaining in non-conference play, Purdue will return to Florida for The Spring Games in Madiera Beach, followed by the USF Invite in Tampa.
