BOCA RATON, Fla. – Splitting the first day of the FAU Parents' Weekend Tournament, the Purdue softball team (8-10) began the doubleheader with a 13-5 victory before falling in a 3-1 decision against FAU.

The Boilermakers' 13 runs are the most since the opening weekend of 2020, which also came against FAU in Boca Raton with a 14-3 fashion. Leading the way was catcher Kaeley Hallada and third baseman Olivia McFadden, who each scored three runs. Additionally, two Boilermakers secured homers: Hallada and Ryen Ross in the first game.

In total, nine Boilermakers scored at least one run in Game One.

Meanwhile in the circle for Game One, Alex Echazarreta earned the start, tossing five strikeouts in the first two innings before being replaced by Mo Wimpee (2-1) who pitched the third inning.

Hallada picked up where she left off, notching her second home run of the day in Game Two with the first pitch of the second inning. The senior, who entered the day with one homer this season, closed the day tripling her count. In all, Hallada tallied four runs on four hits.

In Game Two, Purdue's best scoring opportunity came in the sixth inning, when two runners were left on-base. With one out on the board, McFadden singled up the middle, with Jade Moy advancing to third, but the Boilermakers were unable to convert before the final two outs were recorded and FAU responded with the game-winning runs.

In total, Purdue tallied 16 hits over the two games, including 12 in Game One.

Purdue has three games remaining in Boca Raton. Tomorrow, the Boilermakers will clash with SIUE at 11:30 a.m. ET, followed by a bout with Illinois St. at 2 p.m. ET.
