Sekne Records Another Top-10 Finish; Boilers Finish 12th

<br /><br />AWENDAW, S.C. – The No. 23 Purdue men's golf team struggled in the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay, ending the tournament in 12th place after a final-round 297.

AWENDAW, S.C. – The No. 23 Purdue men's golf team struggled in the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay, ending the tournament in 12th place after a final-round 297.
 
East Tennessee State, North Carolina State, Missouri and South Carolina all tied for the team title at 20-under par. Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky and Wisconsin rounded out the top eight. Purdue finished 12th with a 54-hole total of 3-under par 861 (285-279-297), one shot behind Furman and three behind New Mexico and College of Charleston for ninth place.
 
Scores were considerably higher in round three as a strong wind blew for most of the day. In the first two rounds, there were 27 team scores of even or under-par. In the third round, just four teams were even or under-par.
 
Sophomore Herman Sekne continues to play at a high level, recording his fourth straight top-7 finish, with a total of 6-under par 210 (70-71-69). He has now posted 12 straight rounds of even-par or better, the second-longest streak in school history. His four straight top-10 finishes are tied for the second-longest streak in school history.
 
In his last four tournaments, he has placed first, first, sixth and seventh and he already owns eight rounds in the 60s, the fourth most in a season in school history. Fifteen of his 18 rounds this season have been even or under par.
 
Senior Joe Weiler also turned in a strong tournament, narrowly missing another top-10 finish, placing 11th at 5-under par 211 (70-67-74). Weiler has placed in the top 20 in all six events this year and now has 15 career top-20 finishes. He saw a streak of seven straight rounds of even par or better end in Tuesday's final round.
 
Cole Bradley (77-70-76) and Nick Dentino (73-71-79) tied for 71st at 7-over par 223. Andrew Farraye was 77th at 8-over par 224 (72-74-78).
 
As an individual, Luke Prall placed tied for 40th at even-par 216 (71-73-72).
 
Purdue will look to bounce back this weekend at the prestigious Calusa Cup held at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
