AUGUSTA, Ga. – Inez Wanamarta fired an even-par 72 to lead Purdue Women's Golf in the final round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational Sunday (March 13). The senior vaulted up the leaderboard, and the Boilermakers shaved 12 strokes off their opening-round score with a 301 (+13) to place 10th (+38) amongst a tough field.
No. 4 South Carolina and No. 25 Ole Miss shared the tournament title at 14-over par through 36 holes. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after high winds prevented two rounds from getting completed on Saturday.
Wanamarta entered the final round in a tie for 60th but went from the bottom of the Boilermaker lineup to Purdue's top performer at Forest Hills Golf Club. After starting with a par on No. 9, she played a bogey-free back nine that included a birdie on the par-4 18th to return to the front side at 1-under on her round. A trio of bogeys and a pair of birdies were included over her final eight holes, as Wanamarta completed her round at level par.
Behind Wanamarta was redshirt-freshman Jocelyn Bruch, who placed in the top half of the leaderboard in 38th (75-79—154). Danielle du Toit and Ashley Kozlowski carded 76s (+4) Sunday, tying for 41st and 46th, respectively. Thitapa Pakdeesettakul matched Kozlowski at 12-over par for the tournament (79-77—156).
Up next, the Boilermakers get two weeks off before returning to action, staying south for the Clemson Invitational (March 25-27).
