MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – After facing six opponents in three days, the Purdue softball squad (14-13) improved to six consecutive wins, picking up a pair of victories in its final day at The Spring Games with an 8-0 (5 IN) shutout against Bucknell and a 4-1 victory over Siena.
Leading the way was Rachel Becker, who secured four runs on the day, including three vs. Bucknell.
Pitcher Alexa Pinarski (2-5) recorded the win vs. Bucknell after tossing the first four innings, allowing just one hit after facing 17 batters and notching two strikeouts. Meanwhile, as a team, the Boilermakers out-hit Bucknell 9-2 in the victory while committing no errors.
In Purdue's final game of the weekend, Alex Echazarreta (6-1) pitched a complete game shutout with a pair of strikeouts and no walks allowed. In total, the senior allowed four hits.
Second baseman Jade Moy led the way in game two with two runs, two hits and a walk, while right fielder Rylee Platusic and third baseman Olivia McFadden each recorded two RBI vs. Siena.
Up next, Purdue will stay in Florida and take the short drive over to Tampa, Florida, for the USF Invite, which is slated for Thursday through Saturday. Purdue's opponents will include Lehigh, Canisius, St. Thomas (MN.) and host, USF.
